| Crossing the Ottawa River |
Bonjour mes amis…aujourhui nous cycled 103 km of GatineauJ I love these cycling paths as there are so many users of all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels. I swore I saw my mom on a bike today. It is enlightening to see so much activity and enjoyment by all…it’s brilliant! There are road bikes, mountain bikes, tandems, mom’s with baby trainers, kids with tricycles as well as walkers; some Nordic and lots of dog walkers, rollerbladers, and many jogging groups. Some sections are busy while others feel like you are all alone way out in the country of canopied trees, bridges and many creeks. Today, we crossed Champlain bridge over Ottawa river to Quebec and rode as many of the pathways as possible. It is interesting how crossing the river changes the nature of the paths and the abundance of French…we felt like we were in a foreign country…help!…can’t remember Grade 8 French class…I only learned to conjugate verbs and ouvre la fenetre! Tom went into a building to find washroom only to say “ gracious” to person giving him directions…gots to love my boy! Loved the twisting, up and down routes through beautiful Gatineau Park . Tom thought it was a road rider’s paradise with perfectly angled curves permitting much excessive speed with thrilling, exhilarating, raison d’etre? We barely touched the surface of the trails to explore there so will have to save for another time…until then, au revoir!....I thinkJ

Glad that Tom is bilingual but he has the wrong language. He better be careful or the french police will be after him. Nice to see that you are having lots of fun with all the trails. Sounds like a wonderful place to ride, unlike around our area. Amber says good work Chucky with the squirrel hunting.

Colliste tabernacle and merde you made the journey to the land of the depaniere and biere froide. Of course you saw all those cyclists because it's Ottawa and we know that the public servants are busy but never at work... Okay Tom, ou est la salle de bain and merci; un autre cinquante s'il vous plait - now you're bilangue...
ReplyDeleteMust say the Nation's Capital is one gorgeous place in the summer and lots to see as you have discovered. Keep on cycling east as the late summer hurricanes are starting to do their thing and it won't be long before you will see/feel the effects as you go east... Happy zoom, zoom, zooming on those taxpayer bike paths... :-)

Hi Glenda,
ReplyDeletea few years back I started learning Spanish and all of a sudden french words would pop into my head that I thought were long forgotten (and are again). I thought it was quite funny. The only phrase I remember is (and we probably didn't even learn it in school!) "fermez la bouche". But I like the sound of the language - better than spanish.
I just read that "Irene" has gotten to NY City. Guess you're going to have some pretty rough weather up there and going to have to decide if you should stay put for a while.
Take care.
